Ko Puke Ariki te pae maunga e rū nei taku ngākau
Ko Te Awakairangi te awa e mahea nei aku māharahara
Ko Quentin Duthie toku ingoa. Kia ora and Hi there!
I live in Belmont with my family, where I support residents to build community and restore nature.
My connections to Lower Hutt stretch back to Pākehā settlers arrriving from Scotland in 1840, a Mayor and Harbourmaster, director of the Gear Meatworks, and work-class Irish Catholic families serving their communities in Waiwhetū and Naenae.
Convenor of the Friends of Belmont Regional Park and the Pareraho Forest Trust are two key voluntary roles I have, and I've recently served on two regional planning process - Whaitua Te Whanganui a Tara (on water) and Mauri Tūhono (on biodiversity).
Today I'm self-employed part-time assisting Government agencies with environmental strategy and policy work. Previously I worked as a director of investigations for the Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment, for Forest and Bird, and in Parliament.
I'm standing for regional council because I want to see a step-up in our efforts to restore nature, clean-up rivers and streams, and reduce our climate emissions. There's also great opportunities to vastly improve the appeal of buses, trains, cycling and walking in Hutt City.
I invite you to vote #1 for Quentin for Wellington Regional Council.
